Chris Adams today challenged his one-day side to prove they deserve to play in a Lord's final.

Sussex take on Glamorgan in the Pro40 League at Hove tomorrow (1.45pm) determined to erase the memory of Monday's 30-run defeat by Essex and restore some confidence ahead of next Saturday's C&G Trophy showdown against Lancashire.

Despite the claims of Jason Lewry, who took seven wickets in the Championship win over Durham yesterday, the Sharks are expected to field their Lord's bowling attack in a dress rehearsal against the Dragons.

Adams said: "We had a big meeting after the Essex game and asked the players to analyse certain things. Our bowling in the last two one-dayers, allbeit on good pitches with quick outfields, has been a slight concern to us.

"But the character within the one-day team which has played all season has been immense. James Kirtley, Yasir Arafat and Luke Wright have not bowled as well as they can but I think they are big match players capable of performing in the final.

"I'd like to see a response tomorrow to some harsh words we had after the Essex game."

Lewry has played just one limited overs match this season and although coach Mark Robinson insists he could still force himself into the final line-up, the 35-year-old left-armer is not getting his hopes up too much.

He said: "If called upon I would love to play but I still think it would be a tough call to change the side which has got us to Lord's.

"Because of our strong batting the only person I could replace would be James Kirtley and I'm sure he will come out and show what a fine bowler he still is between now and the final."

Sussex (probable): Prior, Montgomerie, Adams, Goodwin, Yardy, Hopkinson, Yasir Arafat, Martin-Jenkins, Wright, Mushtaq Ahmed or Rayner, Kirtley.
