Jofra Archer has been looking as fast as ever in training with Sussex.

But the county do not expect to see him in their colours in the coming weeks.

Sussex are set to field Ollie Robinson and Jayden Seales as they open the Championship season a home to Northants tomorrow.

Archer played both for and against Sussex when they played in India in pre-seasons.

A clip of his delivery which snapped a stump went viral on social media.

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said: “At the moment the plan is very clear that they (England) are getting him ready for the T20 World Cup and all I can say, from what I’ve seen, is he is bowling with exceptional pace.

“He is batting really nicely and he was brilliant in India.

“To have him on the trip was fantastic.

“He joined in, did everything as well as you would expect, and was an excellent role model around the team.

“We won’t see him in a red-ball shirt before the World Cup but let’s see what happens once that has been played.”

Former England and Sussex quick bowler James Kirtley says he has recorded Archer recently bowling at the pace he was producing before injury.

The T20 World Cup takes place between June 2 and 29.
