A SUSSEX archer has struck silver in a team event at a World Cup in Colombia.

Bryony Pitman, from Shoreham, scored a podium finish in the recurve women’s team event along with her teammates Penny Healey and Jaspreet Sagoo.

The GB team competed against South Korea in the final at the Medellin 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage Four after beating Mexico.

The latest medal adds to the successful year British archers have had to date, including Bryony.

The 25-year-old also secured silver in the women’s recurve individual competition last week at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, and had multi-medal success at Antalya 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage One earlier this year.

Speaking last week at the World Games, Bryony said: “Being around so many athletes from other sports is quite inspiring and it’s nice how interested other British athletes were in each other’s events.

“The humidity was challenging at times and keeping concentration in the heat, especially in the finals with the heat coming off the stage.

“It was difficult, but everyone was dealing with the same thing. I had an amazing time and it’s great to show off-field archery more than usual.”
