Ben White cannot wait to get stuck into one of the biggest days of his career.

The Albion defender travelled to London yesterday with the England squad ahead of the Euro 2020 final.

He is hoping for a place among the subs against Italy but is expected to again be outside the 23.

But boss Gareth Southgate has praised the role played by those who are not making the matchday squads.

White appears to be relishing the adventure of a lifetime with the Three Lions.

In one of his trademark tweets of few words he wrote before leaving St George’s Park yesterday: “Can’t wait for tomorrow.”

Crowds lined the roadside to cheer England from their base in the Midlands as they set out for Wembley.

The squad have been sent letters from the Queen and Prime Minister Boris Johnson and enjoyed a very special Friday night screening of Tom Cruise's latest blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick ahead of its release.

"They were very fortunate," Southgate said of their message from A-lister Cruise.

"I don't know whether they are supposed to have said this because they all had to sign a (non-disclosure) form.

"They had a preview of a film that's due out further down the line and they had Tom dial in to speak to them which was, I would imagine, quite surreal.

"I was in a meeting watching videos of Italy but that's another story.

"I think they all thoroughly enjoyed that experience and, yes, they've had a good week, really.
