Jiri Skalak, almost certainly, and possibly Andrew Crofts may not be the only members of Albion's squad playing extra-time in the Euro finals in France.

If England's injury problems between the posts persist then David Stockdale ought not to be that far from Roy Hodgson's thoughts.

Far-fetched? Not really, not with Burnley's Tom Heaton likely to be on the bench as cover for Fraser Forster against the Dutch at Wembley tonight.

Heaton has been elevated due to Joe Hart's calf injury and the fractured ankle suffered by Jack Butland in Germany.

If Forster or Heaton are injured too before the summer, Hodgson's mind could just turn back to the keeper he signed when he was in charge of Fulham and who made a couple of appearances for him in the Premier League and Europa League.

In February 2011, once Hodgson had departed from Craven Cottage, Stockdale was included in England's 25-man squad for a game against Denmark after impressing manager Fabio Capello with his calmness deputising for Mark Schwarzer.

Another addition to the England keeper curse would not leave Hodgson many viable options for his thoird choice.

John Ruddy has lost his way at Norwich. Ben Foster, who once retired from England duty, is only just back from long-term injury with West Brom.

Derby's Scott Carson? Perhaps, but why not in such depleted circumstances Stockdale? He has been in exceptional form for Albion this season with both hands and feet.

Stockdale v Heaton will be a fascinating comparison when Albion face Burnley at the Amex on Saturday.
