Albion have launched a zero tolerance clampdown on fans continuing to cheat their way into the Amex for less than they should be paying.

The club warned several weeks ago of the consequences for supporters abusing the system by entering the stadium using cheaper tickets for children and OAP’s.

They are stepping up their threat to punish the offenders after 16 people were caught out in the North Stand at the last home game against Brentford. Checks will be made in all areas of the ground at today’s match against Bolton Wanderers.

Chief executive Paul Barber said: “We are talking about a tiny minority but now there will be zero tolerance. If we feel somebody is genuinely defrauding the club then consequences will be very serious, at the very least the loss of their season ticket.”

Two serial offenders, caught fiddling their admission over the course of two seasons, have reimbursed the club.

Barber warned: “In addition to recovering any monies owed, and suspending or cancelling season tickets or memberships without refund, the club will now consider reporting offenders to the police.”
