Albion are in the dark about Bobby Zamora’s role against Bolton Wanderers as Liam Ridgewell prepares for his last game for the club.

But they have dispelled fears of a lengthy injury lay-off for influential midfielder Beram Kayal.

Bolton, Saturday’s next-to-bottom visitors to the Amex, were the opponents for veteran Zamora’s first start of the season in September.

The seven-goal legend’s latest start, against Brentford on Friday, was cut short at half-time by manager Chris Hughton, who also substituted Kayal towards the end of the 3-0 victory.

Kayal is on course to face a Bolton side guided by Neil Lennon, his former boss at Celtic, but the part Zamora will play is unclear in a match marking the end of defender Ridgewell’s loan from MLS outfit Portland Timbers.

Hughton said: “Beram has been carrying a minor injury but he will be fine and Bobby’s Bobby. We manage him the best way we can. We are never quite sure.

“Sometimes he is feeling great, as though we could get 90 minutes from him, and sometimes not. Beram has just had a little groin (problem) but he is okay.”

Ridgewell has made five starts, including three league wins out of four with two clean sheets, since deputising at left-back for the sidelined Gaetan Bong and Liam Rosenior.

Albion have confirmed to The Argus there is no chance of stretching his stay.

Inigo Calderon is set to fill in again once Ridgewell returns to the States until Bong and Rosenior are back from their respective long-term thigh and knee injuries.
