BOSS Mark Yates believes he has finally found the solution to Crawley Town's right-back problem.

Ipswich Town defender Josh Emmanuel is set to make his debut at Carlisle United tomorrow after joining on loan until January 2.

Yates moved to bring in Emmanuel, above, in the wake of the news that Lanre Oyebanjo is unlikely to feature until the new year at the earliest having undergone a second operation on his troublesome knee this week.

Winger Lewis Young has been playing out of position at right-back for the last nine games following Liam Donnelly's return to Fulham while midfielder Jimmy Smith has also filled in.

Reds have tried numerous other options - Josh Simpson, Mark Connolly, Bobson Bawling, Paul Connolly, James Hurst and Mustapha Dumbuya - at right-back with varying degrees of success since the departure of David Hunt two-and-a-half years ago.

But Yates is confident that Emmanuel has the ideal qualities to thrive in the cut and thrust of League Two having already made the breakthrough at Ipswich this season at the age of 18.

Yates said: “Josh is highly regarded by Mick McCarthy (Ipswich boss) and we're delighted he has agreed to let us have him for what is going to be a busy period.

“He's athletic and aggressive and I think he will adapt well to the rigours of League Two.”

Emmanuel has made four starts - including the 3-2 home defeat by Albion in August - and one substitute appearance for Ipswich this season having been awarded a two-year contract with the Tractor Boys in August.

The former West Ham schoolboy played alongside fellow Reds loanee Josh Yorwerth in their Capital One Cup tie at Manchester United in September and becomes the fourth defender Crawley currently have on loan along with Yorwerth, Mitch Hancox and Christian Scales.

Meanwhile, Conor Henderson's Crawley career was effectively ended yesterday when he joined Conference premier outfit Grimsby Town on loan.

The former Arsenal midfielder will be with the Mariners until December 30 with his Crawley contract set to run out the following day. Henderson, 24, joined Crawley from Hull in June 2014 and went on to make 22 appearances for the club, scoring twice, but Yates confirmed he was no longer in his plans for the future when he went to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on trial last week.
