Albion have been urged to consolidate their promotion challenge by continuing to win at the Amex.

Boss Chris Hughton is targeting consecutive victories on home soil following draws in five of the last six away matches, the latest at Burnley on Sunday.

The second-placed Seagulls put their unbeaten 17-game Championship record on the line against sixth-placed Birmingham at the Amex on Saturday.

They entertain fifth-bottom Charlton a week later with Hughton eyeing the three points at home and point away promotion recipe.

He told The Argus: “I don’t think there is anybody would disagree with that one. Throughout a season if you win at home and get a point away from home then you are going to be right up there.

“We’ve drawn a lot of games and certainly some of those games we could have turned into wins and that would have seen us perhaps in a better place than where we are at the moment.

“That’s a formula we’ve got to get to, whichever way we do it, but a point generally away from home is not a bad point, not in this division.”

Albion have won six of their eight outings at the Amex. Cardiff and Preston both held them to a draw last month.

Birmingham, beaten by Charlton at St Andrew’s on Saturday, have won four of their last five away from home.
