Chris Hughton has been nominated for the Championship top boss award for a second month in a row.

The Seagulls chief was named manager of the month in August, when Kazenga LuaLua picked up the Championship top player trophy.

Now Hughton has been chosen as one of four nominations for the September award.

During the month Albion claimed two wins and two away draws from their four fixtures to stay top of the table.

However, he has tough competition to win for a second time this season from Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, Reading’s Steve Clarke and Paul Clement on Derby.

Karanka masterminded a perfect month for Boro with four wins from four, with a 10-2 goal difference.

Clarke’s Reading began with a 5-1 victory at home to Ipswich and ended with convincing away triumphs at Bristol City and Burnley for three wins in four games.

Derby, under fledging boss Clement, claimed ten points from four games despite an awkward looking fixture list.

The judging panel for the award includes former Ipswich and Scotland boss George Burley plus ex-West Brom, Sunderland and Wolves striker Don Goodman.

The four players nominated for the Championship player of the month award for September are Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes, Reading frontman Nick Blackman, Huddersfield midfielder Emyr Huws and Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala.
