Albion’s matchwinner has revealed the message Chris Hughton gave to his players on an emotional day at the Amex.

Tomer Hemed scored the only goal against Hull City in the match dedicated to those who died in the Shoreham Airshow tragedy.

Hughton was keen for his players to do the occasion justice and take responsibility for providing the right result on the pitch.

Hemed told theargus.co.uk: “The gaffer spoke about that before the game.

“He asked us to think about that because it was an important day.

“We needed to be ready to win the game because of what happened.

“I’m happy that we did it.”

Hemed admitted the 1-0 win over the Tigers turned into a tough match after the bright opening.

He added: “We started well but after that it wasn’t easy for us.

"But in the end we defended well and kept the score (at 1-0).”
