Ollie Robinson continued his dream start to life with Sussex with a five-for in just nine overs.

He finished the morning session with 5-17 as the county had Warwickshire reeling at 80-5 on the first day of their Championship match at Hove.

The visitors had won the toss but regretted that decision as they slumped from 35-0 after Robinson was introduced as first change at the Sea End.

He sent back openers Ian Westwood and Varun Chopra in his second over and later removed Laurie Evans and Sussex old boy Tim Ambrose with successive deliveries.

Westwood, who made 13, got under a pull shot and was well caught, low down behind square leg by Steve Magoffin, who was running in from fine leg.

Chopra was comfortably picked up at second slip by Chris Jordan for 16 three balls later with no addition to the total.

Robinson had Ateeq Javid taken at the wicket by Ben Brown for two before producing the ball of the morning to induce an outside edge to the keeper from Evans, who made six.

Ambrose was trapped in front first ball for Robinson’s fifth victim in the space of 46 deliveries.

Warwickshire won the toss in bright sunshine but appreciable cloud cover had come across by the time play started and they struggled against the Sussex seam attack.

Jordan made a welcome return to Sussex’s injury-hit Championship line-up having been left out of the first Test by England.

Mike Yardy misses the match with a calf injury picked up at Taunton on Friday.
