Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington believes his squad is the strongest it has been all season.

The arrivals last week of Jack Evans and Chris Sessegnon have been a boost to the squad.

Skipper Ian Simpemba serves the last of a two-match ban as Borough host Bath City in Vanarama Conference south today and Dean Sinclair is battling to recover from a foot injury which ruled him out last weekend.

But Widdrington will still have decisions to make on his starting line-up.

He said: “It is almost the beginning of February and for the first time this season I have a 16-man squad and I can pick any one of those 16 and still be as strong.

“I have always had two, three, four academy players in the 16 who may not be ready to start the game, although they have shown they can do a job from the bench.

“It definitely means now I have got to leave players on the bench who could walk into most other teams in this division. We may still not have a lot in numbers but we have the quality.”

Widdrington is waiting on clarification regarding a suspension of defender Marvin Hamilton who was sent off in the Sussex Senior Cup defeat at Lewes ten days ago.

Hamilton has now been handed a two-match ban but Crawley defender Joe Walsh, who was sent off in the same competition, was told his three-match suspension would only apply to Sussex Senior Cup games.

Hamilton will be in the squad today when Borough could climb the table with a win as the top eight sides in the division are playing each other.

Widdrington said: “The table is so close you can win and jump up two or three places, you can lose and drop down two or three. We have another game three days later at Weston-super-Mare and we are looking to pick up maximum points from both games.”
