CRAWLEY are hopeful of extending the loan of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Lewis Price.

Reds boss John Gregory will hold further talks with Eagles counterpart Neil Warnock today about keeping the Wales international stopper for another month.

Price showed his value to Crawley on Saturday with a number of fine saves to keep the score down in a 2-1 defeat at home to Port Vale which left the Reds hovering above the relegation zone.

Gregory said after the game: “We are talking to Palace on Monday. We have already spoken to them and Palace will make a decision on Monday.

“He has been on a 24-hour recall which goalkeepers get slightly different dispensation for than other players. We will to have to wait and see if we get a chance to extend it.

“I have been pleased with Lewis, how he has gone about his job. He got a little exposed with the two opportunities Port Vale had. Other than that he kept us in the game a couple of times. He has been good around the place, a good pro, a fantastic trainer so I'm hopefully we can secure him for a further month.”

If Price's loan cannot be extended, it will leave Crawley with just one goalkeeper - transfer-listed Brian Jensen - on their books for the crunch Boxing Day clash at Leyton Orient when top scorer Izale McLeod will complete a three-match ban.
