David Stockdale is refusing to accept Albion are embroiled in a Championship relegation fight.

The Seagulls have only two sides below them but still more than half of the season to repair the damage, starting at Wolverhampton Wanderers today.

Stockdale is convinced they can put the defeat eight days ago by fellow strugglers Millwall in front of a tetchy crowd at the Amex behind them and start climbing the table.

The defiant keeper told The Argus: “We’re not in a relegation fight.

“If it came to ten games before the end of the season and we were still in the same position we might be but we won’t be there.

“I firmly believe that. If we keep playing and getting in the positions we did on Friday, with the talent we’ve got we’ll come through it.

“Everyone goes through bad spells and hopefully our good spell will come from now till the end of the season. Things can turn very quickly.”
