Head coach Paul Groves hailed Crawley’s never-say-die attitude after they had fought back to earn an unlikely point against Scunthorpe.

The Iron appeared to be cruising to victory with 15 minutes to goals thanks to goals from Paddy Madden and Lyle Taylor.

Dean Leacock halved the deficit when he headed home in the 76th minute before Izale McLeod scored from the spot after Ryan Dickson had been hauled down.

Groves said: “The first half wasn’t good enough and it wasn’t until about 25 minutes to go that the fans got behind us and helped us get something from the game.

“It took us too long to get to that stage but you have to give the players credit for sticking in there and keeping going.

“We’ve got to give a big thank you to the fans for how they stuck with the players because that helped us get over the line and get a draw.

“At 2-0 down you are happy to get a point but when you are at home you want to win and be on top for 80 or 90 minutes and we haven’t done that.

“That is five unbeaten now in the league but we have to try to turn one or two of them into wins as that would put things in a different light.”
