Crawley boss John Gregory is eager to secure the services of Jamie Ashdown and Marvin Elliott on longer term deals.

Both Ashdown and Elliott will be out of contract at the end of December after joining Reds initially on a short-term basis as free agents.

Ashdown has established himself as Gregory’s first choice goalkeeper ahead of Brian Jensen since making his debut against Doncaster last month while Elliott has scored three times in seven appearances.

Gregory said: “I’m fortunate to have two experienced goalkeepers in Brian and Jamie and I’d like to keep them both. The situation keeps both of them on their toes so hopefully we can sort things out with Jamie sooner rather than later.

“Marvin is in a similar situation in that he is with us until the end of December but we will be looking to address that in the next three or four weeks. I would be very reluctant to lose somebody like him so I’ll have to sit down with Michael Dunford (chief executive) and see what we can come up with.

“I’m sure there will be other people looking at Marvin now he is playing again but he is the kind of guy who is very loyal and appreciates the chance Crawley have given him.

“He is not someone who will go somewhere else for the sake of an extra £50 so hopefully we can come up with a deal that suits everybody.”
