Sometimes I just wish following Lewes FC was not so eventful.

Last Saturday we took on fellow relegation battlers Grays at The Pan. We'd only played out a 0-0 draw a few weeks ago but this presented a good oppotunity to get a win under our belts.

Sod’s law would have it that the goals came in the half I couldn't make. Reffing during the first, I watched the second. It was nice to hear when I came in that we were 2-0 up but quite annoying I had missed it. Scott Taylor scored for the second match running and Michael Standing added a penalty - both scoring against former clubs.

Since that game Scott Taylor has gone. He was much criticized by Lewes fans and although I'm not his biggest fan I have to say he does have quality - just nothing of the type a lower table side need.

Then on to the Sussex Senior Cup and a trip to warm (not!) Selsey. It was freezing! The ref even called time on half-time early to get the game started at risk of freezing!

The game, well, erm, let’s just say we won in the 118th minute! Tim Rivers and Grant Hall started the game with Ryan Timms, Fred Foreman and Matt Whitehead making an appearence from the bench - all under 18 players.

With the current (and unchanged) problems at the club, a few more of these u-18 players may have to make the step up and fill gaps. It’s a sad situation but unfortunately it’s one we can’t get away from.

No game this weekend, Kettering feature in the FA Cup. The FA Cup, oh what could have been.

Ah well, there’s an unsure future ahead for Lewes FC but we’re all hoping for the best possible solution, wherever that may come from.
