Thursday sees two debuts for Lewes FC, firstly new loan signing Kerry Mayo will bring some much needed experience to the side missing Danny Cullip and the other being the club’s live television coverage debut.

Setanta are covering the game at home to Rushden and it’s something fans could never have dreamt of when we start our rise up the pyramids all those years ago under Jimmy Quinn.

Since I last blogged we gave in what many described as “the worst performance so far”. Not the best thing we could have done in the current circumstances but prior to that we were making steady progress and we’re all hoping Barrow was a set back.

Rushden will be a massive task, we can’t get away from that, but maybe the cameras will spark our boys into action and we’ll play up to the cameras (all set for a boring 0-0 with not a single shot then!).

I said last time I hoped to report on the first win, well I can’t at the moment but those fingers are still crossed and the laptop is ready to report just as soon as we get those three points! Could it be at Rushden? Well, current form would suggest not but stranger things have happened in football.

It’s certainly not been an easy time for us so far and I’d go as far as saying you could have more fun watching Boro (no, what am I saying?), but I’d hope as many people will be there Thursday to cheer us one including some fans from Eastbourne, Brighton and Crawley as none of them have a game.

Slightly away from The Rooks now but tonight the club hosts Brighton reserves v Crystal Palace reserves and I’ve been told there’s a little bit of rivalry between the two clubs. The rain has just about stopped so hopefully the pitch is ok and we get a half decent crowd down to watch it. Next week our own reserves face the reserves of Millwall, the Pan is certainly hosting some big name reserve sides, and if the Gillingham game was anything to go by (Lewes won that 3-1) then it’s certainly value for money.

The fans match still has no date or venue but we’re in talks with a few clubs about hosting it and with a bit of luck we can confirm a date next week. It would be nice to see a few people down supporting whichever club hosts it as the more the club makes, the more likely they will be to hold it next season (which guarantees one win for Lewes fans every year!).

Thanks for reading, and maybe, just maybe, I might finally get a win to report on! Here’s hoping ....
