Football can be a funny old game. Kidderminster away, the historic first ever game and an honest opinion from most of the travelling Rooks was we were in for a long afternoon.

We matched our opponents, though, and came away with a very creditable point.

The celebrations when the ball hit the back of the net for the equaliser were not to dissimilar to those when Siggy scored against Dorchester, albeit the size difference.

The 45 who travelled to Kidderminster (although all of us seemed to think there was more) did their team proud and vice versa. Kevin and his boys knew that and showed their appreciation at the end, clapping the fans with Keehan shaking the hands of those who hadn't escaped to the bar at the very same moment the final whistle went.

Then it was Crawley, arguably more of a test.

They weren't happy with their Saturday performance and promised a backlash. Well, we got it, and it brought us back down to earth with a bump.

However, the fans stood on the Philcox and still got behind their team for ninety minutes.

After everything that has happened over recent months, it's good to have the football back and it seems that fans are willing to get behind the eleven men wearing out shirt win, lose or draw and long may it continue.

Onwards to Saturday and a tricky tie at home to Salisbury, the side who came up and carried on going when they came into the Blue Square South. There are no easy games in this league but if those watching can keep the same level of support and those on the pitch can give 100% every week, I'm confident we can be looking forward to competitive season.
