A father and son have received awards for their joinery skills.
Woodworkers Adam Hobbs and his son William have a combined 61 years’ experience between them.
Adam has worked in joinery and refurbishing properties for more than 45 years and specialises in period properties including Georgian and Victorian homes.
The pair received a master and journeyman award in a ceremony at Mansion House in London on March 11.
Adam said: “Receiving this award is an incredible honour and to be recognised here in London is the icing on the cake. As a young man coming to work in London was a career highlight, it is a city that I loved working in.
"The skills I learned have came from a long line of master craftsmen and I am honoured to have left my mark on some of London’s finest properties.
“I am immensely proud that my son William followed a similar path workwise. In a world where craft skills such as joinery are becoming a rarity it is good to know that young hands now create such beauty with wood.

“The world is in need of housebuilding and reconstruction of existing homes and buildings to house the population. Every country seems challenged by this at the moment.
"For joiners working within the industry challenges are significantly increasing and of course climate change and sustainability are driving a radical rethink in the use of natural resources, with sustainable timber at the top of the list.
“Joinery is a true craft, it takes a lifetime to learn and I still learn new things, new ways. To do something you love is the best job and if you create beautiful things to last beyond your time well that is a true legacy.”
William, who lives in Uckfield, started a joinery and cabinet making business there called Joinery Boys Ltd six years ago. He has 16 years’ experience.
They were joined by family members to receive the awards last week.
