These 6 dogs at Sussex Dog’s Trust are looking for their forever homes

This bunch of tail waggers are all being cared for at the Dogs Trust Shoreham Rehoming Centre in Brighton Road.

They do everything they can to provide essential care for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs.

Bailey

Breed: Malinois cross

Age: 1 to 2 Years

Bailey is full of beans and has lots of enthusiasm but will appreciate a calm approach when meeting for the first time as he can become easily overwhelmed when there's lots to take in.

Once he knows you well, he'll relish every second in your company; receiving gentle fusses, playing his favourite games and participating in his training.

Bailey is a super intelligent chap who thrives off of learning and any activity that'll keep his mind stimulated.

Highly energetic, he is seeking an equally active family who will enjoy teaching him new skills and supporting him with some of his ongoing training.

The youngest members of his family should be aged at least 15 and a garden of his own is essential. He needs a patient and compassionate family who will always be around at home to keep him company.

Biggles

Breed: Lurcher

Age: Age: 2 to 5 Years

Biggles is energetic with tons of character. He's a friendly boy but often finds it hard to contain his enthusiasm and may forget his manners when meeting you for the first time.

However, his project handler has been teaching him calmer greetings, as well as new skills that he is making great progress with.

This super smart Lurcher thrives when he's learning and would love a family who could dedicate lots of their time to his training.

He'll need plenty of outlets to express his energy in the form of food-enrichment, engaging walks and on-going behavioural support. Due to a history of using his mouth when overwhelmed, Biggles must live in an adult-only home, and any visitors will need to be aged at least 16-years-old.

Due to his high chase drive, he must be walked on his muzzle and he cannot live with cats, caged birds or other small furry pets. He enjoys meeting other dogs but his exuberant playstyle isn't always appreciated by others.

He needs to find understanding adopters who have patience, and who are willing to receive guidance from our Training Team.

Dom

Breed: Lurcher

Age: 2 to 5 Years

Dom is a young Lurcher who is full of beans. Active both physically and mentally, he's a fun and clever boy but can often become overwhelmed by the world around him.

Providing Dom with lots of opportunities to express his energy will help him to feel his best. He enjoys gnawing on a long-lasting chew, engaging in his training, having a good run about, and most importantly - playing with his toys!

Dom will need to be the only pet, in an adult-only household without any visiting children. He would like a home with easy access to quiet walks so he can avoid bumping into other dogs unexpectedly, but rather gradually build up his doggy social skills within controlled meetings.

Dom is also uneasy around heavy traffic so will need walks away from the roadsides or where only very light traffic passes.

It is essential that he has a garden of his own to burn off some steam and enjoy a good, off-lead run about as he'll need to be walked on his muzzle and lead in public. He'd like to find people who are always around at home to keep him company, and who can dedicate lots of their time to him.

Lilka

Breed: Lurcher

Lilka is a beautiful, nine-year-old Lurcher with a friendly yet sensitive nature. She likes to get to know people at her own pace, but once she's built up a strong bond she'll enjoy relaxing in your company and begin to show her affectionate side.

Despite being a slightly more 'mature' lady, Lilka has lots of energy, is very playful and lights up at the sight of her toys. Her other big love in life is food, and she's always keen to show off her many tricks in return of tasty treats.

Lilka needs a family who are enthusiastic to get on board and support her with her training needs, while receiving ongoing advice from our Training Team would be perfect.

Lilka loves the outdoors but lacks in confidence around other dogs and can be reactive when in their presence. She will need to go for her walks in less-frequented areas, where she can avoid bumping into them. The quiet countryside would be an ideal location for Lilka to explore as she'll also need to avoid walking next to any loud or busy roads.

Much more a fan of her people pals, Lilka needs to be the only pet at home and due to her high-prey drive, she will need to wear her muzzle when out and about. The youngest members of her family should be over the age of 16 and it is essential that she has a garden of her own with at least 6ft high fencing as she has a talent for the high-jump.

Peppy

Breed: Terrier Cross

Age: 5 to 7 Years

Peppy is an active six-year-old Patterdale cross who is a fun and playful boy. Although he does enjoy a fuss, interactions need to be on his own terms. Peppy can be worried of strangers, especially men, so will need his new owners to come to the centre multiple times to build a bond with him.

Peppy is looking for a quiet lifestyle away from built-up busy areas. His new home needs to be adult only, including visitors and a minimum of two people in the house as he struggles being left.

He would like to be the only pet in the home, including dogs and would like his own private garden to let off steam.

Quieter walking areas would be beneficial for him away from busy traffic. He can travel in the car which gives his new owners more options to vary his walks.

Tula

Breed: A Crossbreed

Tula is a bright, young Lurcher with a highly active nature. She enjoys most things that can be used as an outlet to express her energy or keep her busy brain stimulated, such as participating in fun training, solving food-enrichment puzzles, gnawing on a chew or engaging in a game with her toys.

Her perfect match would be with a family who lead an active lifestyle, and who can dedicate lots of time to supporting her with some additional training.

Tula will need to always exercise on a lead due to her high-chase-drive. Her carers at the centre have built up positive associations around her muzzle so that she feels fully comfortable when wearing one.

She will need to be the only pet at home and requires secluded walking locations to avoid seeing lots of other dogs about. She's a fantastic traveller in the car, which is a great plus when driving her to quieter areas.

Tula can live with teenagers over the age of 16 and visitors to her home must be of the same age.
