SHOREHAM Port has given £12,000 to St Peter’s Community Primary School in Portslade to provide child-friendly gym equipment for pupils in their main playground.

In July 2014 the Port helped the school in St Peter's Road with a similar project and provided funding for a new outdoor play area, which has been hugely popular with the school’s early years pupils.

Now the Port has funded the development of the junior school playground.

Headteacher Michele Lawrie said: "We are delighted and grateful that Shoreham Port have once again enabled us to make good use of limited outdoor space by providing us with the funding to enable us to develop the junior playground.

"We are keen to promote children's fitness and health and were able to purchase outdoor gym equipment which can be used by all ages.

"The funding also enabled us to develop a quiet area with picnic tables and soft seating and to improve the appearance of the playground with trees and planters."
