EVERY house in every street has a different story behind its front door.

A theatre company recreated a suburban street under one roof on the site of the old Peter Pan’s Playground in Madeira Drive, Brighton.

Audiences who moved around the immersive play could see snippets from different decades of the same family as time ticked along on December 31.

Called Once Upon A Time On Something Street, it gave viewers an insight into the lives of the Stammers family through the war-torn 1940s, the swinging 60s, late 80s, the turn of the Millennium and ultimately the modern era.

The duo behind the Whizz Bang Productions project are Joe Acres and Jack White.

Mr White said: “They all have a story to tell. But you’ll soon realise their stories are woven into the patchwork of the street as you begin to unpick the

threads connecting them through time.

“We were keen to challenge the audience to think about how they spend their time in general life.

"Each scene is based around the concept of value and time – either not having enough time, wasting time and regretting not spending it differently.”

Visitors were able to ask characters questions and find themselves part of the story.

The purpose-built covered row of houses and rooms started springing up in May.

After finishing last weekend, The Argus has lifted the lid on the goings-on behind the doors of Something Street in case you missed it while it was in town.

Following its Brighton premiere, the production is now set to appear in Brixton, London, later this year or early next year.

Mr White added: "We just want to make it the best it can be.”
