ADVICE and information for residents in homes at risk of flooding was on offer at a special event.

The Seahaven Community Flood Fair took place in Seaford to give people a chance to learn more about how to protect their homes and what steps were being taken by authorities to help them.

About 100 people turned up for the event at Seaford Head School earlier this month.

East Sussex County Council representatives were on hand to explain their role as the lead local flood authority.

A Lewes District Council team, along with Seaford and Newhaven town councils, explained how local authorities and emergency services responded to the threat of flooding and the important role played by voluntary and community organisations.

The Environment Agency, National Flood Forum and Southern Water were also at the event, along with the fire service, Coastguard and local organisations including the Seaford Community Flood Action Group.

Seaford town councillor Sam Adeniji said: β€œIt was invaluable having all the key players together under one roof to inform residents on how to prepare a personal flood plan and better protect themselves and their property.”
