A WOMAN was rescued and was taken to hospital after she jumped off Brighton Pier.
The woman leapt off the iconic structure at 9.47pm yesterday evening prompting a launch by the lifeboat.
But one of the security guards from the pier went down to the beach and swum out – pulling to woman back to the shoreline.
The helmsman of the RNLI lifeboat beached the Atlantic 85 to provide medical assistance to the woman who was drifting in and out of consciousness.
Full medical checks were carried out by the lifeboat crew and once paramedics were on-scene the woman was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for further treatment.
It is understood the woman was conscious when she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Jade Cohen volunteer crew at Brighton Lifeboat, said: “This weekend has proven busy for our volunteer crew.
“Most of the shouts involved people entering the water, we urge anyone coming down to the seaside to be sensible when near the water edge .”
