THE walls of Brighton have been used for the creative vision of a legendary street artist for the second time in a month.

Hot on the heels of Blek Le Rat’s image of his son playing the violin in Bond Street, acclaimed Australian artist Rone is the latest to take on the biggest of blank canvasses.

The Melbourne-based artist has brought his distinctive style of glamorous street art depicting women to the side of Pinocchio restaurant in New Street, Brighton.

The talented artist, who famously depicted both Cate Blanchett and Kylie Minogue in an 80-metre artwork in his home city, has been working since Friday on his latest masterpiece on his first visit to the city.

He said: “I had a spare couple of days in Europe and I asked people if anybody had any walls they needed to paint and it was Jo [Brooks, Brighton-based publicist] who said come to Brighton and I said find me a wall and I will come to Brighton.

“It’s my first time in Brighton but I was aware of the city’s reputation.

“I wanted to create something with two girls together as best friends because it is amazingly hard to find images of women which are not overtly sexual or have two women pitted against each other.”
