A charity auction raised more than £5,000 to help prevent suicides.
Brighton-based charity Grassroots Suicide Prevention charity hosted the Gala Auction of Promises at All Saints Church, Hove.
More than 100 people attended, bidding on items including a sapphire and diamond ring, a vintage car experience for two people, a live lounge experience with band The Nixons and a week at a holiday cottage in Devon. A tour of the ITV Meridian studios, which includes meeting presenters and watching the news go out live, was sold for £350.
The money will go towards activities to prevent suicide and help towards the charity’s plan to make Brighton and Hove the country’s first Suicide-Safer City.
Charity director Chris Brown said: "We have never held an event like this before and we are overwhelmed by people's support and generosity. The money raised will help Grassroots with our goal that no-one should contemplate suicide alone.”
Charity supporter Gail Porter, a former model, TV presenter and mental health campaigner, was due to open the auction but had to cancel due to ill health. Visit prevent-suicide.org.uk.
