A RAVE in an industrial unit was shut down by police.

No one was arrested as police broke-up the party at about 8am after getting complaints for hours from nearby residents.

Laughing gas canisters and bottles of beer were littered along the edge of the unit at Dolphin Enterprise Centre, in Evershed Way, Shoreham, where the party was said to have started shortly after midnight on Saturday night.

A Sussex Police spokesman said about 20-30 people were there at around 8am but there had been a report of more than 100 people earlier in the morning.

One nearby bricklayer arrived at work next door on Sunday morning to find the party still going on.

The worker, who asked not to be named, said: “I did not see many people at that point but there were two guys sitting outside smoking.

“There was really loud music. I saw the police come over then I saw a group of about 12 come out and walk across the field.”

Police first attended at about 5am, but did not break things up until later. It is not clear how the ravers gained access to the unit, which appears to be empty with a to let sign outside.

Some residents reported on social media being kept awake or disturbed by the party for most of the night, although The Argus visited about 15 of the closest households and all said they had heard nothing.

Clive Andrews, who lives about half a mile north of the site, told The Argus: “I heard a few noises during the early hours.

“I noticed at about six or seven in the morning a sort of gentle thumping noise and then went back to sleep.

“It did not really disturb me – it was more amusing. It is not a usual Sunday morning in Shoreham.

“We thought, someone is having a good time.”

Many hundreds have had no sleep at all. Fuming nothing was done to stop it.”
