ONE-hundred fans gathered to meet their favourite YouTube celebrity Zoella.

The meet-and-greet event at Superdrug in Churchill Square marked the launch of the online superstar’s exclusive beauty range.

Just 100 fans were chosen from more than 10,000 hopefuls to attend the secret event, with some travelling more than six hours to speak to the 24-year-old Brighton-based social media sweetheart.

Zoella, real name Zoe Sugg, told The Argus: “As always it was brilliant to meet my viewers today.

“I’ve been a shopper in Superdrug Brighton for some time so it was fun to start my tour here.

“No way would I ever have dreamed when I first posted videos that it would lead to this. It’s amazing.”

In 2009 Zoe created a YouTube account where she makes videos and blogs about fashion, beauty and her quirky life.

Five years later, her channel boasts more than six million subscribers and her videos have been viewed more than 284 million times. More than three million people follow her on Twitter and Instagram, making her one of the UK’s biggest social media stars.

She moved to Brighton this year to live with her boyfriend and fellow YouTube star Alfie Deyes, who has 4.9 million subscribers, and their two guinea pigs Pippin and Percy.

Launched exclusively in Superdrug stores last month the Zoella range has already sold more than 70,000 units, making it one of the most successful launches ever for the retailer.

On its first day all but one product sold out online by 7am, and the shelves were stripped clean within minutes.

The event was kept off social media to keep it secret but hundreds of fans queued up in the early hours to get a photo with their idol. Her book Girl Online will be launched in November.
