Brighton is “full” of roadworks and something needs to be done, glamour model Katie Price has complained.

During an interview with The Argus, the former Page 3 girl, who grew up in the city and went to Patcham High School, called for an end to delays for drivers.

She said: “I love Brighton, I think it’s a great place. I always do all my shopping there. But there are just too many roadworks. That needs to be sorted out.”

The celebrity still lives in Sussex, near Horsham, with her husband Kieran Hayler and five children, the youngest of which – Bunny – was born earlier this year.

She has just published her 10th novel and is looking forward to signing copies of the book – Make My Wish Come True – at WH Smith in Queen’s Road, Hastings, on November 1, from 2.30pm.

The plot revolves around the trials and tribulations of a showbiz reporter, a television chef and a “creepy” ex-boyfriend, with plenty of drama.

The author said: “I was really excited when I heard one of the events was in Hastings. It’s where one of my best friends lives so it will be great to see her.”

When asked about the Hove-based No More Page 3 campaign, she said: “Everyone has different thoughts and opinions and everyone is entitled to their own feelings. I can’t complain as Page 3 is where I started my career.”

Scores of maintenance works have been listed for the city on the Brighton and Hove City Council roadworks map.

Part of Edward Street is closed until November 9, as well as road closures and diversions along the A270 Lewes Road – which are expected to remain in place until December 19 as work continues on the Vogue Gyratory. Earlier this month, commuters were dealt another blow when it was announced the seafront roadworks had been extended for a fourth time.

The King’s Road work, to repair the arches underneath the carriageway when the tarmac collapsed, are now not expected to be completed until December.

Geoff Raw, Brighton and Hove City Council’s executive director for environment, development and housing, said the work would take longer than expected because it was “complicated and complex.”

Ms Price’s Make My Wish Come True is published by Century and costs £16.99.
