A road is closed after a car burst into flames after hitting the crash barrier and then colliding with a van.
The A27 was closed in both directions near the Adur flyover, Old Shoreham, following a road traffic collision shortly after 4am this morning.
The cars involved were a black Vauxhall Astra car, which caught fire, and a Ford Transit van, both travelling westbound.
No one was seriously injured.
Eastbound lanes reopened at 5.12am but the westbound carriageway remains closed due to road and barrier damage.
A diversion has been set up via the A283 Old Shoreham Road, the A259 Brighton Road, the A2025 South Street and Grinstead Lane, Lancing, rejoining the A27 at Manor Roundabout, North Lancing.
Anyone with information should email email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 109 of 23/9.
The A27 Shoreham closure is due to an RTC, Car Fire, Road Surface damage. Highways Agency need to assess the road in daylight.

Queues starting to build on the A27 westbound approaching the Shoreham flyover due to closure. If you can possibly avoid the area: do.
